CIBHS provides Crisis Intervention Training. Crisis Intervention Team CIT programs throughout the United States and in other nations worldwide promote and support collaborative efforts to create and sustain more effective interactions among law enforcement, mental health care providers, individuals with mental illness, their families and communities and also to reduce the stigma of mental illness.
This certification course is designed for current Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Coordinators and those who plan to become CIT Coordinators. The training is open to law enforcement, mental/behavioral health providers, and other professionals responsible for coordinating CIT training. CIT Coordinators are essential to the development of partnerships and the creation of effective programs. This course is provided by CIT International Certified Trainers and is open to California and other states.
In February 2014, with funding from the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), CIBHS began a series of activities toward collecting information about CIT best practices and practice gaps in California, including a survey of California counties throughout the state. The report below is a summary of the findings from these activities.
