Who Should Participate
Local behavioral health board/commission members from small counties. We ask that each board or commission send a team of 3-4 people, preferably including the Chair, to the training. CIBHS will reimburse travel expenses for all the team members to attend, though carpooling is encouraged. Please contact Gerilyn Walcott at email@example.com to let us know who will be participating from your local Board or Commission.
“Behavioral Health Boards and Commissions 101″ will be offered on Saturday, morning, 9:30 am-noon. This training will provide 2 hours of discussion about the roles and responsibilities of mental/behavioral health board members. Board members will learn about the requirements for Ethics Training and about how to participate in a meeting that conforms to the requirements of the Brown Act. The afternoon session, from 1:00-3:00 pm, will focus on Evaluation of Boards and Services. First, we will discuss the evaluation of your board: the way meetings are conducted, the way your board works and the work that you accomplish. Second, we will discuss some aspects of reviewing or evaluating services provided to the clients of your mental/behavioral health board; evaluation of programs, evaluation of facilities, and client satisfaction with services/programs. Board members should come prepared with their questions about board membership and be ready for a great discussion. Lunch will be provided.
