Training Description “Behavioral Health Boards and Commissions 101″ will be offered on Saturday, morning, 9:30 am – 11:30 am. This training will provide 2 hours of discussion about the roles and responsibilities of mental/behavioral health board members. Board members will learn about the requirements for Ethics Training and about how to participate in a meeting that conforms to the requirements of the Brown Act.
A training on “Advocacy for Issues” will be presented in the afternoon, from 12:15 – 2:15 pm. Board members will learn how to encourage consumer participation and how to focus on a particular issue of interest in the public arena. Board members should come prepared with their questions about board membership and be ready for a great discussion. Lunch will be provided.

*CIBHS will reimburse travel expenses for one member per local mental/behavioral health board/commission in the region, but more are welcome to attend. Please contact Gerilyn Walcott at email@example.com to let us know who will be participating from your local Board or Commission.

BART Station - One-minute walking distance: 12th Street/Oakland City Center Station (1245 Broadway in Oakland.)
Hotel (If Needed) - For those traveling a distance (60+ miles), and/or who are not able to travel at night, hotel expenses can be reimbursed. We recommend making reservations at The Washington Inn Hotel, $139/night. Free breakfast is offered, and it is in walking distance (two minutes) to the meeting/training. CIBHS will reimburse up to $140/night for Friday night stay (one member per board/commission). CALBHB/C will reimburse for Saturday night stay (for one member per board/commission) as needed.
