Please join us for the webinar: Harm Reduction in a Virtual Environment. This is the ninth webinar in the series, Minimizing Disruptions in Care Through the Use of Behavioral Telehealth (Video and Phone). The goal of this webinar is to teach participants skills, strategies and interventions to manage health risk for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders, and support goal directed outcomes using telehealth.
Learning Objectives include:
- Participants will be able to discuss at least four characteristics that differentiate high demand versus low demand client access systems and two strategies for creating low demand client access systems to optimize treatment engagement among clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
- Participants will be to apply at least two Motivational Interviewing techniques to quickly engage and improve client retention in substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment services delivered via telehealth.
- Participants will be able to describe at least three harm reduction strategies for lowering health risks, overdose and death that can be taught in a virtual treatment environment to help clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders self-manage and reduce their risk.
This webinar series is intended to not only build skills in telehealth, but also to highlight some of the learning from the field in offering behavioral telehealth services. Eric Haram is owner
of Haram Consulting LLC, a health and behavioral healthcare
consulting firm. Haram Consulting LLC offers technical assistance
for all aspects of strategic planning, workforce development and
clinical and business systems design for states, institutions and
organizations. Eric’s professional experience includes 30 years
delivering, designing and directing substance abuse treatment
services in hospitals, correctional facilities, and community
behavioral health centers. As a national consultant, Eric
provides expertise in 11 states, from California to West Virginia
and including his home state of Maine. He also provides countless
hours of advocacy for improved access to addiction and mental
health treatment in the Maine State Legislature and was President
and Board Chair of the Maine Association for Substance Abuse
Programs from 2007-2013.
