A Message from Percy Howard, CIBHS President and CEO
To all our friends, partners, customers and
The California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions (CIBHS)
is monitoring the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) daily. Our top
priority is the safety and well-being of our staff, as well as
that of the public, your staff, and all you serve. As more and
more towns, cities, states, and countries recommend and enact
restrictions on social contact and travel, nearly every aspect of
normal life has been upended. CIBHS is closely monitoring and
carefully following the guidance issued by Governor
Newsom on March 17, 2020, and as a result, we will be
closing our offices with immediate effect for a minimum of three
weeks, until April 8, 2020. We will reassess the situation at
that time based on any changes in guidance that may be issued.
We are fortunate and happy that most of our staff can effectively
work from home and we are doing that effective immediately. Work
phones will be forwarded to cell phones and we are using video
and conference calling technology to stay connected internally
and externally with you all. We are also working diligently to
adapt training and TA offerings to be available and effective in
distance learning contexts. There will be no diminished capacity
for us to engage and plan with any of our stakeholders, and we
will continue to work closely and effectively with you to meet
your needs concerning the current work we are doing with your
organizations, and any future work you may seek from us.
We know that our colleagues in the health professions are deeply
affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been hearing directly
from our partners about the impact; logistical, personal,
emotional, and financial that this crisis is generating. We are
also hearing inspiring accounts of courage and innovation from
behavioral health and health systems as they treat their patients
and clients in a manner which protects their staff and
communities, while still facilitating positive outcomes for those
in their care.
