Roles and Responsibilities of Local Mental/Behavioral Health Boards and Commissions

This 30-minute e-learning module, titled “Roles and Responsibilities of Local Mental/Behavioral Health Boards and Commissions”, provides information on the statutes and regulations that govern LBHBCs (e.g., Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) sections (§§) 5604 et seq., WIC §§5650-5667, and WIC §§5750-5772, etc.).

The module takes participants through the composition of a board or commission, the nine required roles and responsibilities of boards and commissions, the Brown Act, conflict of interest, and ethics training.  It also describes how to evaluate the community’s needs, make an action plan, and best practices in supporting and advising the Board of Supervisors and County Behavioral Health Directors.
