Rick DeGette, MA
Director of Supported Employment and Education Programs

Rick Degette is retiring as behavioral health director for Stanislaus County. Prior to working with Stanislaus County, Rick was the Director of Vocational Services in Alameda County where he helped implement and expand the Individual Placement and Support Model of Supported Employment across the county. Rick brings more than 30 years of experience working in public behavioral healthcare in California as a direct service provider, manager, administrator, program planner, and consultant.

Rick will be responsible for carrying out CIBHS’s strategic initiatives related to employment and education practices designed to mitigate social determinants of health. Rick will also be responsible for linking supported employment with other CIBHS supported evidence-based practices including, but not limited to: Strengths Model case management, Illness Management and Recovery, and Housing First Supported Housing.

Rick’s background also includes work with the former California Department of Mental Health to assist counties in developing education and human services programs for children, youth, adults, and older adults from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. He has dedicated his career to helping people with complex behavioral health challenges achieve their fullest recovery potential.

Rick has a Master of Arts degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. He also attended the University of Southern California where he received a certificate of achievement in Mental Health Leadership.
