Sut Yee Shirley Chan, PhD

Dr. Shirley Sut Yee Chan is an Evaluation Associate for the California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions. Dr. Chan has 11 years of experience in research and evaluation, including work with academic, government, and community health organizations. Dr. Chan completed her doctoral degree in social-personality psychology with an emphasis on quantitative psychology at UC Davis. Dr. Chan’s research focuses on reducing mental health disparities by investigating proximal and distal factors of psychological health including cultural adaptation processes, ethnic identity development, social determinants of health, economic hardship, and parent-child family processes. She has previously worked as a statistical consultant to state government, academic research centers, and non-profit organizations. Dr. Chan is an experienced researcher and statistician with a deep commitment to understanding the effect of culture on health and wellness behaviors.
