Confidentiality and Release of Information Webinar
Application of 42 CFR Section 2 in Care Coordination and Service Partnerships
The DMC-ODS Forum of the California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions (CIBHS) hosted a 90-minute Webinar providing an approach to the use of consents to facilitate sharing client information with partner agencies in the DMC-ODS.
The Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS) Waiver requires the management of access and utilization of services in a well-designed continuum of care. The key to this coordination is the sharing of participant information between agencies within the DMC-ODS and external service partners. The federal regulations impose stringent restrictions on the disclosure of identifiable participant records by federally assisted alcohol and drug treatment programs. Bruce Copley will present Santa Clara County’s approach to the use of consents to facilitate sharing client information with partner agencies in the DMC-ODS. Key legal issues and considerations will be discussed. A downloadable power point and sample Release of Information Form will be available to all registrants.
