Leadership and Workforce Development

CIBHS develops and strengthens behavioral health leaders by building practical, equity-centered skills across individual, organizational, and system levels through training, coaching, and tailored capacity-building support.

Cultivating Effective Leaders and a Skilled Workforce

CIBHS advances leadership development using a social-ecological framework and an innovative learning approach that defines leadership as a set of core skills and competencies operating across individual, interpersonal, organizational, and system levels locally, statewide, and nationally. This model recognizes that effective leadership in behavioral health requires the ability to navigate complexity, influence systems, and drive change across multiple contexts.

Our leadership training programs are designed to elevate and empower both emerging and experienced leaders, managers, and executives with the confidence, tools, and adaptive capacity needed to lead in a rapidly evolving behavioral health landscape. We focus on practical, applied learning that strengthens decision-making, collaboration, and strategic leadership in real-world settings.

We strengthen our partners’ work through comprehensive capacity building, including coaching, training, workshops, and customized consultation tailored to organizational and system needs. Our approach is informed by the challenges behavioral health leaders face, such as addressing adverse social determinants of health, adapting to evolving payment and policy environments, navigating workforce shortages, and recruiting and retaining a skilled, diverse workforce.
