The Crisis Intervention Training for Adolescents and Young Adults workshop is designed to address ways practitioners can use best practices to address adolescent stress and despair. Participants will learn how to use evidence-based strategies to assess adolescent and young adult lethality and how to initiate collaborative conversations to engage at-risk individuals in safety planning and linkage to care. The workshop will highlight ways to approach conversations about issues currently identified as significant stressors for youth and young adults: violence, community instability, climate crisis, and general concerns for the future. In addition to learning best practices for screening, assessing, and addressing concerns, participants will also build community resources and create support networks they can use to support their young clients.

In this three-day training brought to you by California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions (CIBHS), National trainers Leila Keen and Donna Potter will assist behavioral health practitioners understand the basics of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidenced based practice for children, adolescents and their parents and caregivers impacted by trauma. A master’s degree in counseling (e.g., social work, counseling, etc.) is required to attend this training and become proficient in the model at the conclusion of the training protocol. 

You are not alone! This workshop will help you understand Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS), identify common warning signs and reactions, and learn strategies for addressing STS so that it does not get in the way of your work or your well-being.

Join us for this workshop that will provide education regarding the prevalence of co-occurring disorders, assessment tools for this population, strategies for engagement, and treatment interventions for people who have a diagnosis of co-occurring disorders.
